$150,000.

That鈥檚 how much 91大黄鸭 native JB Owen received for her eco-friendly female hygiene product Lotus Liners, from the investors on CBC鈥檚 Dragon鈥檚 Den.

Now all Owen has to worry about is the best way to spend it.

鈥淲e need to educate women about the pros of a washable liner,鈥 Owen said after watching the episode in 91大黄鸭 at Moxie鈥檚 Bar & Grill Nov. 7.

鈥淭he money is a game changer. We can make washables normal, but that takes education and teaching. We can change the way women think to help benefit body and the environment.鈥

Owen filmed the Dragon鈥檚 Den episode in May, and was sworn to secrecy on results of her meeting with the Dragons until the episode had premiered.

She says it was super fun to watch it all unfold with family and friends.

鈥淚t was nerve wracking,鈥 Owen said, laughing. 鈥淚 was with about 50 people and I didn鈥檛 know how it was going to be edited and shown. I thought the CBC did a great job.

I felt a tremendous feeling of pride, joy and celebration afterwards.鈥

Going forward with the $150,000, a 35 per cent equity from Calgary dragon Manjit Minhas, Owen knows there is so many more people that Lotus Liner can help.

鈥淚ts really important for woman all over the world to realize the alternatives to disposable hygiene products,鈥 she said. 鈥淐an we be bigger than Canada? That all starts with changing the way women think.鈥

Lotus liners have no chemicals or harmful toxins and come in three sizes for a woman鈥檚 entire cycle.

Each in a stylish designer print to coordinate with your mood or outfit.

They easily snap around your underwear, and then snap closed to be discrete.

They wash beautifully without staining so you don鈥檛 have to use harsh detergents or bleach.

They save buyers money each month, because each liner will last three to five years if cared for properl and reduce unwanted refuse in landfills.
