An iconic destination in the South Okanagan for tourists and locals is no more.
The business announced that the Naramata Inn has closed "indefinitely" as of Jan. 1.
"This decision reflects the continued challenging conditions for tourism and hospitality in the Okanagan," a social media post reads. "We are deeply grateful to have been part of so many cherished memories and special occasions in one of the most beautiful places in the Okanagan Valley."
Built in the early 1990s and said to have welcomed some of the Okanagan's first tourists, the inn held its last dinner service on Dec. 30, 2024.
Its last owners took over the business five years ago.
"We are saddened to take this step," their post reads.
"We want to express our thanks to the several hundred people who have worked at the inn during that time and to the many local suppliers and partners who have supported the project. They have created wonderful lifelong memories and experiences of Naramata for so many people."
Although the inn has closed to the public, its owners say Naramata Hospitality Limited Partnership "is committed to the preservation of this important historical property and will be investing in maintaining it in excellent condition."
In its goodbye message, the business thanked its staff, local suppliers, partners and customers for their support.
The Naramata Inn building is located at 3625 1 Street.
