Mission Save-On-Foods staff celebrate the opening of QVA wine shop at the Lakeshore Road grocery store.

Save-On-Foods has opened a second B.C. VQA wine store at one of its grocery stores in 91大黄鸭.

The Lakeshore Road store in the Mission officially unveiled the new wine store this morning, after having opened a similar shop at the Save-On-Foods in Orchard Plaza last month.

The ability for the grocery store to purchase a liquor license came through changes to B.C.'s liquor laws in 2014, which Premier Christy Clark described as common sense changes when speaking at the Orchard Plaza store opening.

"We've made common sense policy changes that are making it easier for British Columbians to be able to find B.C. wines," she explained.  "The first was making it possible for B.C. wine producers to sell wine at farmers markets.  That wasn't legal until about one year ago.  We also agreed that grocery stores should be allowed to sell wine, as long as it's 100 per cent B.C. product."

Save-On-Foods branch is now selling more than 900 wine labels from 150 B.C. wineries.

"We're excited to be able to pair high quality B.C. wines with the groceries you buy in the store every day," said Darrell Jones, chief executive officer for the Overweitea Food Group, the parent company of Save-On-Foods.

"We want to be able to provide a level of convenience for our customers right here in 91大黄鸭, and across the province.  Save-On-Foods is proud to be bringing these choices to 91大黄鸭."
