After three years of planning, prepping and construction, The Edge, the expansive event centre located at The Rise Resort on Vernon's Okanagan Hills Boulevard, has officially opened. 

"There is nothing like it in Canada" said Terra Renton, general manager of the centre. "It's been a labour of love and it is super unique, with super gourmet and first-class food."

The Edge is a 160-seat restaurant and dining room, with a wedding and event banquet room, along with private dining options and an expansive 4,000 square foot outdoor patio.

"Our patio wraps around the whole area, a 360-degree view," Renton said. "You are really immersed in nature (up at the resort), and there is something so peaceful about that."

The restaurant bases its menu around local ingredients, with food sourced from local farmers. Renton foresees "a lot" of weddings, special events and concerts hosted at the facility.

Golf simulators, and a retail shop are also at the resort, which pairs with The Rise golf course, which opened up in 2008. 

In the future, Renton expressed that there is interest for a hotel up on the property, although nothing is set in stone yet. 

"We want to make sure that the building is succeeding on its own, but there are definitely plans for the future."

While the first swath of dinner bookings have been booked up, reservations are open, and you can visit  to book.
