Armstrong siblings Finley and Bennett Fowler were promised by their mom, Lauren, they could drink the product they were offering when they made their first sale.
That took about 15 minutes.
The Fowler kids operated a hot chocolate stand at Rosedale Avenue and Jarvis Street on the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 28.
"The neighbour across the street saw the kids and came over and bought a hot chocolate about 15 minutes after they set up," said Lauren. "So they were able to have a drink to keep warm."
The idea for Finley, six, and younger brother Bennett, four, to operate a hot chocolate stand started in the summer, when Finley wanted to open up a lemonade stand in the neighbourhoold.
This winter break, the kids were offering hot chocolate for 50 cents. Marshmallows were also available
And the stand was a hit with the residents.
"They did quite well," said Lauren. "They made up signs, and they would hold them up and wave whenever a car passed."
Friends, family, and local area residents helped the kids run out of chocolate.
And what will they do with their profits?
"They haven't got that far yet," laughed Lauren. "They're still recovering from Christmas."
