After receiving a flurry of entries for the naming of its new snow plow, the City of Salmon Arm has selected not one but two.
In November, the city launched a contest to name the new plow. It welcomed "snow-worthy names for this essential winter vehicle," along with original drawings.
On Thursday, Dec. 19, the city announced its new snow plow would be known as Snow Chute, the name submitted (along with an illustration) by Silver Creek Elementary Grade 6 student Addison Blair.
The city also selected a second name, The Big Leplowski (a play on Coen brothers' film The Big Lebowski), submitted by Amanda Moland. This name is reserved for another plow truck expected to arrive in early 2025.
In appreciation of Blair's submitted illustration, the city offered a special shout out, saying the drawing would be turned into a custom decal.
"Your artwork will be proudly displayed on 鈥淪NOW CHUTE鈥, spreading snowy cheer throughout the community," said the city in a social media post.
"Both winners will receive a City of Salmon Arm swag bag as a token of our appreciation for their snow-tacular creativity! Thank you to everyone who participated in naming these winter warriors."
