If the weather isn鈥檛 making it feel like fall, the upcoming Harvest Pumpkin Festival in Armstrong sure will.
The four-day festival, a celebration to the autumn season, will be chock-full of unique events, bound to entertain attendees of all ages.
Day 1, on Friday, Oct. 6, is headlined by Art Shows at the Armstrong Spallumcheen Art Gallery. A pretty pumpkin workshop will take place at Sparrow Grass Field, while live music begins at Farmstrong Cider Co. at 3:30 p.m.
A pancake breakfast, beginning at 8:30 a.m., kicks off Saturday at the Hort Buildings Fairgrounds. The farmers market also takes place starting at 8:30 a.m. with numerous free artisan workshops for kids occurring at the fairgrounds.
The headliner for the day is the Great Pumpkin Launch, starting after 12 p.m. A giant pumpkin weigh-in, horse drawn Okanagan wagon rides, tons of live music and an open mic night are all in the cards for the day.
If you are feeling Halloweeny, you can judge scarecrows made by residents throughout the weekend. Just pick up a map at the Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Centre. Voting ends Sunday, Oct. 15.
Sunday is reserved for the heart-pumping demolition derby, which will run from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Finally, Monday is a day for nature, with an ecological trail walk, and outdoor autumn exhibits open.
Field of Screams is also occurring throughout the month of October at Historic O鈥橩eefe Ranch, for those looking for a spooky capper on a fun-filled weekend.
The Harvest Pumpkin Festival was created in 2000 to bring the community together and offers an opportunity for visitors to see that the area is more than sun and summer.
