The second annual Good Lemonade Day brought in a lot of money for a good cause in 91大黄鸭.

Held on Saturday, June 3, more than 70 lemonade stands that were set up across the province brought in $17,500 for JoeAnna鈥檚 House, a home-away-from-home for families to stay while they have loved ones being cared to at 91大黄鸭 General Hospital.

鈥淲e were so excited to be a part of the second annual Good Lemonade Day,鈥 said Karen Tse Nunn, a mother who hosted one of the lemonade stands. 鈥淟iving in the small town of Fernie, our family and many of our friends have experienced the stress and uncertainty around travelling to a faraway city to receive medical care. I remember vividly what a scramble it was when our day-old baby was airlifted to hospital from Fernie. I also remember meeting dozens of other moms and dads who found themselves and their children unexpectedly stranded in a new city while their baby was in the NICU. This is the reason why we support JoeAnna鈥檚 House, which gives families a much-needed place to stay while their loved one receives medical care in 91大黄鸭.鈥

On top of each Prestige Hotel in the Okanagan having a lemonade stand, more than 50 families set up their own stands and would also sell baked goods to raise more money. Many family-run stands raised hundreds of dollars but one family in Salmon Arm raised more than $1,500.

Most of the stand were set up in 91大黄鸭 and West 91大黄鸭 but there were also family stands in Vernon, Kamloops, Smithers, Cranbrook, Fernie, and Salmon Arm.

This year鈥檚 event raised $300 more than the inaugural event in 2022.
