The VolunteerConnector is a treasure trove of volunteer opportunities and to support the 鈥榥ew year, new opportunities鈥 mindset, we are sharing a few more ways you can make a big difference in 2025.

Check out all the opportunities at for an easy, user-friendly way to look for volunteer opportunities. If you would like direct support or a facilitated connection to a local social profit organization, contact the Volunteer Centre Coordinator Wendy Williams at wendyw@kcr.ca and she will be guide you, thanks to the Volunteers4All program, funded by Prospera Credit Union.

The Regional District of the Central Okanagan has cool (pun totally intended) new opportunities for Ice Rink Maintenance volunteers at Scotty Creek Community Park. This family-oriented, volunteer-run initiative requires two to four volunteers to manage and maintain the rink in the multi-use courts on a daily basis through the winter. RDCO is also looking for Park Ambassadors and Environmental Stewards on a year-round basis.  Sheelah Rodgriguez is the fabulous Volunteer Coordinator you would get to work with and as the Regional District Park Services protects and manages over 2,100 hectares of spectacular parkland from Peachland to Lake Country, you would definitely have the opportunity to make a community impact.

If you are in Lake Country, Lake Country Health has amazing ways to help from techie roles to driving participants to appointments. Lake Country Health started in 1982 and is the only local community organization that provides a variety of resources for its valued residents and works diligently to develop necessary programming specific to the community鈥檚 needs. Such programming includes Better at Home for seniors, a Car Seat Initiative, Caregiver Support Group, Resource Directory, and low income Tax Clinics. Through the development of their programming, they have been able to reach individuals of all age groups, and have worked towards improving community health. Be a part of achieving their vision to 鈥渁ctively workfor accessible and quality health, wellness and social services for our community鈥. Available roles include Social Media Content Creator, Tech Angel for Seniors, Silver Sitters for Caregiver Support and Event Organizers. And if you only have time to make some calls, they could use your help as a Friendly Caller, that chats with local seniors on a weekly basis.

If health care is where you want to give back, Interior Health Community Care Volunteer Services offers a variety of opportunities also. They require Volunteer Drivers to drive Community Care Clients to appointments, Friendly Visitors for Home Care Clients to alleviate loneliness and isolation and general volunteers to help at Public and Children Health Clinics.

If outdoor recreation and adventure inspire you, connect with Nathalie at Adventure Immersion Lab. Since moving to the Okanagan in 2017, Nathalie has been growing the adventure racing community in the area. In June 2023, Adventure Immersion Lab was born. They are organizing a variety of events, including a Winter Adventure Series going on now and an Amazing Race style of event in May.

For all of your volunteer adventures, connect with Wendy and KCR Community Resources for opportunities that will give back to you and to the community.
