The District of Lake Country has been recognized again for its commitment to community health and safety.

The BC Municipal Safety Association has presented the district with the 2023 Organizational Safety Excellence Award.

Occupational Health and Safety Specialist Sarah Goodwin accepted the award on behalf of the district.

鈥淲e take immense pride in receiving this recognition for the third year in a row,鈥� said Goodwin. 鈥淚t is an opportunity to celebrate all the excellent work done by everyone at the District of Lake Country to ensure our workers continued health and safety. It takes a lot of trust, commitment, and time to develop a strong safety culture, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to learn, grow and improve year after year.鈥�

To receive the award, a municipality must demonstrate an outstanding safety record in comparison to peers and show year-over-year improvements.

鈥淭he District of Lake Country has demonstrated a notable example of leadership, dedication, and hard work in reducing the costs of claims by creating a safer and healthier workplace and helping injured workers recover and return to work,鈥� said Mike Roberts, CEO of BCMSA.
