A group of motorcycle riders stopped in Salmon Arm for a quick bite and a generous donation from the legion.
On Wednesday morning, July 5, members of the Military Police National Motorcycle Relay (MPNMR) were greeted by members of the Salmon Arm Legion, including president Jane Birnie and vice-president Lance Ewan, who provided them with lunch and a cheque for $500. The riders welcomed both, as they make their way across Canada raising funds for the
鈥淭he blind fund has been in existence since 1950 I believe鈥,鈥 said MPNMR chair Ray Lyver. 鈥淭his ride that we鈥檙e doing was started with five military policeman that started out with a ride across Canada to raise some money for the kids鈥 In the last 14 years, we鈥檝e raised over $850,000, and this year, we鈥檝e only just started and we are now over $24,000.鈥
Lyver said legions and other groups have been providing generous support throughout their journey so far, which ends on July 26 in St. John鈥檚, Newfoundland.
