91大黄鸭 International Airport (YLW) will look a little different next time you walk through it.

As people wait for their turn at the airport check-in, they can look up and see 40 feet of new art on the wall, organized by the 91大黄鸭 Art Gallery.

The art is called 鈥楽emiotically Speaking鈥 by Salmon Arm artist Steve Mennie, who is originally from Revelstoke.

The 91大黄鸭 Art Gallery describes the piece as, 鈥渢hese works highlight the artist鈥檚 interest in signs and symbols (semiotics) and take a closer look at how we use them to communicate ideas. Have you ever stared at something that鈥檚 very familiar for long enough that it begins to look strange? In a similar way, airport visitors will encounter examples of common road signs that, when taken out of their regular context, may cause them to scratch their heads and think, 鈥渉ow鈥檇 we ever decide that this is supposed to represent this idea?鈥

YLW will have the art on display from June 2023 to June 2024.
