Every year, over 1,500 women deliver their babies at 91大黄鸭 General Hospital. This month, Shoppers Drug Mart locations across 91大黄鸭 and West 91大黄鸭 are raising funds for a very special piece of equipment to support them during one of life鈥檚 most precious moments.
The goal is to raise $25,000, enough to fund the purchase of a cardio respiratory monitor for the unit, which opened in its new location in March 2016 on the 4th floor of KGH鈥檚 Interior Heart and Surgical Centre. The highly advanced monitoring device provides clear and constant monitoring of a mother while her baby is being delivered.
鈥淎ll of us at the stores are really excited about this campaign,鈥 Chase Nickel, pharmacist at the Glenmore Shopper鈥檚 location said in a press release. 鈥淓nsuring that women in our community receive the best care possible is truly a cause that benefits us all.鈥
The fundraising push is part of Shopper鈥檚 Drug Marts ongoing commitment to advancing women鈥檚 health initiatives through its Growing Women鈥檚 Health campaign.
鈥淪hoppers Drug Mart has a reputation for incredible generosity and commitment to helping Canadian women be their best 鈥 a value that we share,鈥 said Chandel Christie, annual programs director at the KGH Foundation. 鈥淲ith their support, we advance our ability to deliver world-class care for mom and family during the birthing process.鈥
The KGH Foundations鈥 Giving Giggles campaign has committed to raising $3 million for the new perinatal unit. To date, donors have funded a wide range of equipment including the NICU central monitoring system, wireless fetal monitors, cardio respiratory monitors, NICU cribs, Kangaroo Chairs and post-partum infant security system.
