Who better for rubber flooring than a company that specializes in rubber?
Vernon-based Kal Tire made a donation of $7,106 to the Silver Star Adaptive Snow Sports (SSASS) group which has allowed the organization to replace the flooring in its room at the resort.
Users of the room, plus guests and visitors, will be standing on 2,217 pounds of recycled tire rubber used to make the flooring.
鈥淭hank you Kal Tire for this generous donation,鈥 wrote SSASS.
The donation comes from Kal Tire鈥檚 Replay Fund, a community program of the longtime tire giant.
SSASS is a volunteer-run society that offers alpine skiing and snowboarding lessons to children and adults with diverse physical, cognitive, and behavioural learning needs who are not able to participate in regular SnowSport School lessons.
SSASS operates under the Canadian Adaptive Snow Sports and B.C. Adaptive Snowsports umbrellas.
The club is looking for volunteers for the upcoming season.
鈥淲e presently have a waiting list of students, and if we don鈥檛 get more volunteers, we may have to turn some people away,鈥 SSASS said.
