A world-renowned Punjabi singer will soon be making their way to a stage in 91大黄鸭.
Punjabi folk and pop artist Sharry Mann, known for his folksy style and modern pop beat, will be performing at a benefit event that helps raise funds for children in need in the Central Okanagan.
Organized by Navsher, Davinder and Saiyanwala Sandhu, the performance will take place on Jan. 12 and all proceeds will go to Starbright Children's development centre.
The Sandhus are excited to bring Mann to the area to showcase music from their homeland as they, 鈥渃onsider it their Canadian responsibility to help people in the community they now call home.鈥
The idea to give back to Starbright was suggested by 91大黄鸭 City Councillor Mohini Singh. The organization provided support to Singh with her daughter 17 years ago when she was five.
鈥淭he intensive work they did helped my daughter, helped me, helped my family. In a year she started going to kindergarten,鈥 she explained.
Starbright executive director Dr Rhonda Nelson explained that the organization is grateful for the donation.
鈥淭he money will go to buy physiotherapy equipment for children,鈥 Nelson said.
Mann is sure to perform his chart-topping hits like "Yaar Anmulle," "3 Peg," and "Hostel,鈥 at the 91大黄鸭 Community Theatre on Jan. 12.
