The Music for the Mighty event in 91大黄鸭 on Oct. 4, 2024 raised $55,000 for the BC Children's Hospital Foundation.

An Okanagan fundraising event supporting BC Children鈥檚 Hospital Foundation hit a high note with donors bringing in $55,000.

Music for the Mighty, organized by Align West Homes and its Build For Good initiative, was held on Oct. 4 at Revelry Food + Music Hub in 91大黄鸭.

Performances from local artists included Gun Shy and guests Myla and Micheal Daniels.

鈥淚t was a massive moment for me to have my daughter present, watching me play in a band, and auctioning off her paintings to help raise money,鈥 said Jordan Hansum, singer and guitarist for Gun Shy. 鈥淏C Children鈥檚 Hospital saved her life, so to watch her and everyone else rally together, my heart is full.鈥

Align West Homes founder, and Gun Shy drummer, David Pfuetzner said the response was overwhelming.

鈥淲e set out to raise $50,000 and ended up raising $55,000. But more than the amount, it鈥檚 about showing these families that they are not alone - that we, as a community, have their backs.鈥

The funds raised will provide critical support for BC Children鈥檚 Hospital鈥檚 social work department, which assists over 300 families annually, helping them navigate the emotional and financial strain of caring for a seriously ill child.

鈥淭his event has not only raised vital funds but has also raised awareness of the importance of supporting families beyond the walls of the hospital,鈥 said Rita Thodos, executive vice president of Philanthropy at BC Children鈥檚 Hospital Foundation.
