The town of Osoyoos celebrates Canada鈥檚 150th birthday with the 69th annual Cherry Fiesta.

The fun begins at 7:30 a.m. on July 1 with a Rotary Pancake Breakfast in the Town Square, followed by the Cherry Fiesta Parade on Main Street at 11 a.m. Throughout the day, the town will be hopping with live entertainment, a beer garden, craft and food vendors, children鈥檚 activities on the beach and a 鈥渃herry pit spit鈥 competition in various locations at select times.

Organizers are reminding visitors and residents that all lanes on Main Street through Osoyoos will be closed at the lights between the intersection of Highway 97 and Highway 3, at the junction of Highway 3 and Kingfisher, to accommodate for the parade route. The closure will be in effect from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Entertainment in the Gyro Beach Bandshell runs from noon until 10 p.m. with Gypsy & The Rose, Dance Oasis, Glory Days, Cindy Doucette, a cherry pie eating contest, The Judy Rowe Band, 13 Broken Bones, Rebel Luv, Uncorked and music from Butt Nakid ending the evening.

The party culminates in what organizers call the largest Canada Day fireworks display in Western Canada, starting at Gyro Beach at approximately 10 p.m. The fireworks display is made possible by the generous donations of local individuals and businesses.
