MisMacK Clean Cosmetics will make a "historic first" as the Salmon Arm business looks to slay the dragons.
Founder Missy MacKintosh and her 13-year-old son Evan are appearing on the TV show Dragon's Den on Jan. 16 and while launching their new Grit Kit sports product, they'll also be the first business to combine their debut in support of a charitable initiative.
In a media release, MacKintosh announced their episode will kick off a seven-day national campaign for KidSport Canada with a goal of raising $150,000 in support of the organization's goal, "so ALL kids can play."
That fits with the product launch as the Grit Kit, inspired by Evan's love of sports and MacKintosh's dedication to clean beauty, features Canada's first toxin-free eye black "designed to empower athletes of all ages to play their game their way." They'll also be able to look good while doing that as the kit also contains MisMacK's AMP'D Up Mascara and GlitterEnvi biodegradable glitter in a mirror-lined case.
The KidSport campaign will launch the same night the show airs with a local event, The Grit Kit Premier: A Night of Dragon's Den Magic, Grit and Giving Back at Song Sparrow Hall on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 5 p.m. The event will include a screening of the show, keynote speaker former NHL player Aaron Volpatti as well as a speaker panel and question period with MacKintosh and Evan.
There will also be the opportunity to try on GamePlay Eye Black, hit the photo booth with MacKintosh, Evan and Denny the Dragon and enjoy snacks and refreshments.
A portion of every ticket sold will go to KidSport at $10 from every $125 VIP admission and $5 from every $55 general admission. Additionally, through the seven-day campaign, $5 from every Grit Kit pre-ordered will be donated as well in an effort to break down financial barriers and give more kids "access to the transformative power of sport."
"This isn't just about a product – it's about grit, innovation and giving back," MacKintosh said in the media release. "We're proud to partner with KidSport Canada to empower the next generation of athletes to play the game their way."
