The positive population of social media inspired Jayden Beaudoin to write a book after documenting his 2023, two-wheeled trip across Canada.
鈥淚nitially, writing a book was unintentional,鈥 the Victoria resident said.
Nudged by followers as he posted photos and updates online, he self-published Cycling From Sea to Sea: One Hundred Days Across Canada in November 2024.
鈥淭his book is really an homage to them and their insistence that I expand the reach of my story in order to inspire others to do great things,鈥 Beaudoin said.
A travel memoir centred around the life-changing aspects of his journey as well as a few significant life events prior to leaving, the book carries strong themes of perseverance, passion, and joy, as well as connecting with oneself and the communities that surround them.
鈥淲hile writing, I was aware that many people do not and will never want to cycle across Canada, so the vivid descriptions and heartfelt reflections contained within the book don't encourage readers to ride across the country,鈥 Beaudoin said. 鈥淚nstead, it serves to explore the human condition while motivating the reader to chase and embrace their own aspirations and journey with open arms as they discover the beauty in pursuing the path associated with their own goals.鈥
Since publication, sales have been steady and positive with copies sold to both local and online vendors, reaching international audiences in Europe and Australia. Self-published through Amazon, it鈥檚 available in paperback, hardcover, and as an e-book and has reached No. 14 in the category of Cycling in Outdoor and Recreation.
