A trio of Okanagan musicians with decades of experience performing as one will make an appearance Thursday at the Grateful Fed.

The Fraser/Lent/Wall trio have offered a distinctive hybrid of jazz, blues, folk, and rhythm at performances across B.C for the last 25 years.

They've appeared on CBC Radio many times and opened for the likes of Leahey, Long John Baldry, Bill Henderson and Roy Forbes and Campbell Ryga.

And, at each performance, they've made new fans.

Their appeal may lie in their diversity.

While the three offer a cohesive performance, their starting points are varied.

Shelby Wall, rhythm guitarist, was from a rock and country rock background. Neil Fraser had played across the genres, from country, rock and Jazz. And John Lent came from folk roots,  with a leaning to the kind of rock performed by groups like The Band.

"It took us a while to see where we might go musically, and even, in time, what we might write ourselves," said Lent. "Neil has such a strong cross-genre vision of the sound of the trio, and has led the way in creating a very full, sculpted sound.  Shelby anchors that sound and Neil is allowed to improvise extremely elastic leads.  Meanwhile, I moved my singing more and more towards rhythm and blues and jazz, a real learning experience for me. but a very exciting move in the end."

We are playing there on Thursday, April 28/16 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and there is a cover of $5.
