Juli Spearing is having a busy spring getting ready to launch two new businesses in Lake Country.

The owner of the Parlour hair studio is venturing into the previously-loved fashion world to launch a new consignment store in the district.

Spearing moved to Lake Country about eight years ago and has always found clothes shopping to be somewhat of a challenge locally with prices on the rise and shops not fitting her style.

鈥淚 always go back to Vancouver and do really big shops. I guess I鈥檓 known to have had a shopping problem in the past,鈥 Spearing laughed. 鈥淏ut I love fashion.鈥

The store is still awaiting name approval of 鈥楥hic Boutique鈥, but Spearing hopes to open the consignment boutique in early April in Lakewood Mall.

鈥淚f this goes well, we actually have our eyes set on another 3,000-square-foot space. So, if this does really well we will probably look at opening a secondary store.鈥 Spearing said the boutique location will be mainly brand-name women鈥檚 fashion with a little bit for men and teens. The larger store, if opened, will have a broader selection of clothing for all.

That鈥檚 not the only business Spearing is working to launch. The entrepreneur is also planning to launch a children鈥檚 party company that will see Disney princesses and other characters add to the entertainment at children鈥檚 events. The plan is to launch the business into the community on April 1.

鈥淭o start we will have Anna, Elsa, Ariel, Rapunzel, Belle, Cinderella, and two fairies.鈥 Spearing is hoping to add some superheroes and other characters like Mario and Luigi in the near future.

With the new businesses, Spearing is looking to add an element of giving back to the community. She鈥檚 currently looking at having proceeds from sales support school nutrition programs to ensure all kids are getting the meals they need.
