91大黄鸭 Fringe Festival returns in late January

The 91大黄鸭 Fringe Festival is back.

Postponed due to the Grouse Complex of wildfires back in August, the festival is back from Jan. 28-Feb.4 after fundraising and rescheduling by the New Vintage Theatre volunteers.

鈥淭he festival is mostly comprised of original new works from artists from Washington, DC to Victoria,鈥 said festival artistic director Bonnie Gratz. 鈥淪ome are solo shows like: Jamie Hill鈥檚 Sheila!, My Body is My Home by Karen L. Wilson and It Is What It Is by Taryn Anderson. Audiences can also catch entertaining interactive performances like XXXY by Scott Kirk, The Best of the Black Cat Cabaret and Improv Against Humanity featuring comedy favourites Bonnie Esson, Stephen Keppler and uber-talented collaborators Mark Wells, Peter Church and Karliana DeWolff.鈥

This year鈥檚 event will feature more than 30 performances from 10 different production companies. Some other performances include 91大黄鸭 Ghost Stories, Reunion, and A Musical Revue-Three鈥檚 Company. Sadec:1965, done by international touring storytelling. Flora Le also returns to the event where it won Best of the 91大黄鸭 Fringe in 2022.

鈥淲hat we are truly proud of is that 100 per cent of ticket sales go to the performers,鈥 said Gratz. 鈥淭o support the festival and the many costs that arose out of the cancellation and remount of this event we are asking people to purchase $5 Fringe Bear pins which show the world you believe in the arts.鈥

All programs will be taking place at the Black Box Theatre (1375 Water Street) and The Rotary Centre for the Arts (421 Cawston Avenue). Tickets are available at for $13-$18. They will be $22.50 at the door.
