Various Family Day activities set to take place around West 91´ó»ÆѼ

There’s a variety of Family Day activities around West 91´ó»ÆѼ on Monday, Feb. 19. (City of West 91´ó»ÆѼ)

The City of West 91´ó»ÆѼ has fun for the whole family this Family Day long weekend.

Some of the free activities on the holiday this Monday, Feb. 19 include:

Jim Lind Arena

Public Skate at Jim Lind Arena - 12:45 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

Multi-Sport Centre

Family Dome Play Day for all ages – 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Mar Jok Elementary School

Family Obstacle Course – 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Craft station in the Multi-purpose Room – 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Rosewood Field

Sledding, weather dependent – 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.

Some other options for activities are:

  • Strolling or rolling along the Gellatly waterfront;
  • Hiking the Mount Boucherie Rush Trail or in Glen Canyon, Goats Peak or Kalamoir;
  • Enjoying the Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park;
  • Playing at one of the City’s 30-plus playgrounds.

Additionally, there is a Family Day bingo challenge to keep busy and try new events throughout town for a chance to win prizes. Here’s how to participate:

  • Download the bingo card online at .
  • Take selfies or photos of your indoor activities, outdoor locations or weekend adventures and post them on Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #WestsideFamilyDay!
  • Email your filled-in bingo card to recreation@westkelownacity.ca.
  • Submissions are due Tuesday, Feb. 20 and winners will be contacted on Monday, Feb. 26.

On top of Family Day, there is skating at Jim Lind Arena all weekend long:

  • Pro-D Day Skate – Friday, Feb. 16, 1:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m. ($2 per person)
  • Public Skate – Saturday, Feb. 17, 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • Big & Little (five years and under) – Sunday, Feb. 18, 1:30-2:30 p.m.
  • Public Skate – Sunday, Feb. 18, 2:45 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

The West 91´ó»ÆѼ Warriors also welcome the Langley Rivermen on Monday at 2:30 p.m., where kids 12 and under get in free. Fans are also encouraged to bring their skates and helmets to skate with the team after the game.

Transit will run it’s Sunday schedule on Family Day. Curbside waste collection will continue per usual on Monday.
