An accessible dock and kayak launch have been installed on Wood Lake in Lake Country. 

The dock and kayak launch were finally installed on Oct. 29, five years after fundraising efforts were first announced by the Rotary Club of Lake Country. 

Funds for the project came from the Freshwater Fisheries Society of B.C. through the provincial Destination Development Fund, a contribution from the local Rotary Club, and from the Oceola Fish and Game Club. 

鈥淥ur organization is committed to removing barriers to fishing for everyone in British Columbia. We鈥檝e witnessed how valuable docks are to improving angler access and participation and thank all the partners for making this project a reality,鈥� said Andrew Wilson, president of the Freshwater Fisheries Society of B.C.

鈥淥nce again, the Lake Country community has come together to help raise funds over the last few years for this very worthwhile project. We appreciate all those community members who contributed and volunteered, they have made building this facility a reality,鈥� said Mayor Blair Ireland.

The total cost of the accessibility project was $83,000.
