GoFundMe set up for woman hit by vehicle in downtown 91大黄鸭

Shayla was struck by a SUV at Water Street and Cawston Avenue on Friday, Dec. 13 around 7 p.m.

A fundraiser has been started for the woman who was struck by a vehicle in downtown 91大黄鸭 on Friday, Dec. 13.

Around 7 p.m. a woman named Shayla and her two dogs were crossing the street at the intersection of Water Street at Cawston Avenue when she was struck by a SUV travelling northbound.

91大黄鸭 RCMP confirmed Shayla was taken to hospital with serious injuries. According to the GoFundMe page, she suffered a traumatic brain injury but is showing strength in her recovery. Her dogs were not harmed or injured in the incident.

The driver of the SUV remained on scene and cooperated. According to RCMP, there are no criminal elements at this time.

Shayla is from Ontario and most of her family and friends live there. The money raised from the GoFundMe, which has a goal of $35,000 will help with Shayla's medical expenses as well as travel for her family to come see her.

"With offers to assist, we decided to create this page for those who wish to help during a time when we can often feel helpless," stated the GoFundMe. "If you are unable to donate, we simply ask for your prayers, well wishes, and healing energy for Shayla, her family, friends, and all her loved ones. Your support鈥攚hether through a donation or sending positive thoughts鈥攎eans more than words can express."

As of Dec. 19 at 9 a.m., $25,100 has been raised through 307 donations.
