91大黄鸭 Councillor Gord Lovegrove is making a pitch for a provincial 鈥渁utomated noise camera鈥 program.

鈥淭hese are cameras situated in road corridors where they pick up traffic noise that exceed our bylaws and the motor vehicle act,鈥 he said.

They operate similar to a red light camera, and use a microphone to capture excessively loud vehicles, take a photograph an audio recording with the driver receiving a ticket in the mail. Connecticut is the latest U.S. state to use t.

Lovegrove added he has been in contact with an individual connected to the technology.

鈥淚鈥檒l be speaking to him more and coming back with a motion to have staff investigate further and come back with a proposal.鈥

He also wants to take the issue to the Union of BC Municipalities and gain support for a provincial program.

鈥淚t makes no sense for the city on its own to have a bylaw in this regard.鈥

Lovegrovedd will bring his motion to council in a few weeks.
