Lime, the electric-vehicle sharing company is doing its part to help 91´ó»ÆѼ residents get out and vote on Election Day.
Monday, April 28, is the federal election in Canada and to help encourage people to vote who don't have access to transportation, Lime has announced its Lime To The Polls campaign in collaboration with the youth-led charitable organization Apathy is Boring.
On Monday, Lime is offering two 30-minute rides for free to help get residents to their polling stations. All riders have to do is use the code "WECANVOTE".
“Our goal is to support the communities we serve, and making it easier to cast a ballot is one way we can make a difference. We believe in encouraging participation in democracy and are proud to offer Canadians a free ride to and from their polling place," said Lime's senior director of government relations Sonia Kandola in a press release. "With so many key issues at stake, it’s especially important for young voters to have their voices heard. We know transportation can be a barrier, and we’re committed to helping remove it — just as we’ve done in cities around the world. We’re hopeful this initiative will have a similar impact in Canada."
"Transportation shouldn’t stand in the way of a vote," added Apathy is Boring executive director Sam Reusch. "We’re thrilled to partner with Lime to help more young Canadians get to the polls — because every voice matters."
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday.
