The O'Rourke Family Vineyard development was back in front of Lake Country council at its Tuesday (Nov. 19) meeting.

Council considered amendments to the Official Community Plan (OCP), bylaw rezoning, and land-use designations for 14 properties associated with the winery along Barkley, Commonage, and Carrs Landing roads. A similar application was previously discussed during a .

The proposal outlines three main areas for the properties: a winery facility, tourist accommodations with 80 units, an amphitheatre, a children鈥檚 camp, and employee housing.

Outdoor events are also planned for the site and would need to comply with district noise bylaws, explained Carie Liefke, manager of current planning.

鈥淲e鈥檙e wanting to make sure the public has some assurance of the different types of outdoor events and when they could expect noise coming from this property,鈥� Liefke said.

She told council that 93 properties could be directly affected by the development. Outdoor events would be permitted from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 7 a.m. to midnight on Fridays, Saturdays, and statutory holidays. A maximum of 500 attendees would be allowed at most events, with exceptions for four larger events annually, accommodating up to 1,200 attendees. These larger events would require a detailed traffic plan.

Notices were sent to the 93 neighbouring property owners, and O鈥橰ourke has scheduled a public consultation session for Dec. 17 at Peak Cellars, located at 2290 Goldie Road.

Council voted to give the proposed amendments first reading. Staff will now proceed with scheduling and advertising a public hearing for the development.
