Luckily the rain held off as 91大黄鸭 residents paid their respects at the annual Remembrance Day ceremony at the City Park Cenotaph.
More than a thousand people were in attendance as people lined up downtown as the ceremony started with a parade that made it鈥檚 way to the park.
As everyone made their way to the Cenotaph, the crowd sung O Canada, and listened to a rendition of The Last Post followed by a moment of silence. Soon after, many wreaths and poppies were placed at the Cenotaph.
鈥淭he number of people who came out today was heartwarming,鈥 91大黄鸭 Mayor Tom Dyas told Capital News after the ceremony. 鈥淎s people were putting (the wreaths) down, the tears started to come down, a lot of emotion from that standpoint.鈥
Remembrance Day ceremonies took place all over the Central Okanagan including City Park, Lions Park in Rutland, Lake Country鈥檚 George Elliot Secondary School, West 91大黄鸭鈥檚 Royal LePage Place and Westbank Lions Community Centre as well as the Peachland Cenotaph.
