A Quebec man has been charged in connection with a violent break-in on New Year鈥檚 Day in 91大黄鸭.
RCMP say charges of break-and-enter with intent to commit an offence and forcible entry have been approved against Stephane Souliere after a man broke into a home in the 3800-block of Gordon Drive on Jan. 1. Souliere remains in custody.
Makenna Allison and her boyfriend Karm Aujla-fieldt heard a knock on the door of their home around 7:30 p.m. and were confronted by a man who tried to enter the house. Aujla-fieldt, a professional jiu-jitsu fighter, wrestled the man outside while Allison called police.
The intruder then punched through a window and re-entered the house. Deciding that continuing to fight was not wise, the couple escaped out the backdoor.
The man caused damage in the home. He was later arrested by RCMP.
