The second phase of a sanitary trunk main between Cross Road and Snowsell Road in Glenmore Road starts on March 17.

The $3.6 million, 1.5-kilometre project will be done alongside the planned Glenmore Road widening project, which was moved forward to align with the utility work.

鈥淐urrently effluent in the Glenmore sanitary network must funnel into smaller connecting mains en route to the wastewater treatment plant,鈥 said Jason Jensen, project coordinator. 鈥 This extension will re-route the flows in a more direct path to the treatment plant, significantly decreasing the risk of overburdening the smaller local mains.鈥

Glenmore Rd. will be widened to four lanes between Union and Scenic roads.

Work on the sanitary trunk is expected to be completed by the end of October. The first portion of Glenmore Rd. widening is expected to be completed in the winter, with the second portion, from Scenic Rd. to north of Snowsell Street, planned for 2026.

Glenmore Rd. is expected to remain open to traffic, however, speeds will be reduced within the construction zone, and detours and minor closures may be required. Transit stops will also be relocated during construction. Riders can visit the for updates.
