The trio will be performing in Lake Country, Mar. 18 at Okanagan Centre Park. 鈥淭he new album was a big undertaking for us all - our producer Nygel included - and it certainly marks a shift in sound and seriousness for Chris, Cory and myself,鈥� said member Ryan McMahon. 鈥淲hen we use the phrase 鈥榬ecord of our lives,鈥� we鈥檙e not kidding. 鈥�This is an album of three men telling their truths together through art they believe in,鈥� said lion Christopher Arruda continues. 鈥淲hen people ask us how this album sounds, we鈥檝e taken to saying 鈥榠t sounds like truth.鈥欌�� Originally known for their respective solo careers, Arruda (the lion), Cory Woodward (the bear) and McMahon (the fox), joined forces as Lion Bear Fox in 2012 and were immediately selected as one of the top 20 unsigned bands in British Columbia (Peak Performance Project). The trio spent 10 days in the Vancouver Island wilderness, crafting 鈥渢he record of their lives鈥� 鈥� a collection of songs steeped in character and full of warmth. One part folk, one part rock, a pinch of gospel and a dash of growl, the self-titled LP is a testament to the trio鈥檚 strength as songwriters. Lush acoustic guitars are bookended by buzzing electrics and screaming organs; all tied together by rich percussion and three voices in mighty harmony.
