A woman riding a scooter was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Rutland on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

The collision happened at about 5:25 p.m. at the intersection of Rutland and Mugford Roads.

A pedestrian walking nearby waved down an RCMP officer to alert them that someone on a scooter had been hit in the intersection.

According to RCMP, officers immediately shut down the road and started an investigation which closed Rutland Road northbound for several hours.

The female driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with police. There was no indication the driver was under the influence, said RCMP.

Police continue to investigate.
