A 42-year-old woman was killed in an apartment fire in downtown 91大黄鸭 on July 12.
The 91大黄鸭 Fire Department was dispatched to the building in the 700-block of Bernard Avenue just after 5 p.m. with smoke and flames coming from the second storey.
Although members of the 91大黄鸭 Fire Department were able to knock down the blaze quickly and contain it to the suite, "overhaul of the fire provided some challenges and a crew remained on scene overnight to ensure no hot spots existed and the fire was fully extinguished," city officials said in a press release.
RCMP, BC Ambulance Service, and Fortis BC also attended the scene.
Seventeen residents were placed in the care of Emergency Support Services following the blaze, officials added.
The cause of the fatal blaze is under investigation.
