The Okanagan Sun continued their dominance of the BCFC with a 37-6 win over the Prince George Kodiaks on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024.

The Okanagan Sun鈥檚 undefeated season continues after a 38-6 win over the Prince George Kodiak on Saturday, Sept. 14.

The 8-0 Sun started the scoring two minutes into the first quarter as defensive back Vicente Ferreira made one of five Okanagan interceptions. Ferreira鈥檚 pick eventually led to running back Elelyon Noa鈥檚 17th rushing touchdown of the season on a four-play 43-yard drive.

During Prince George鈥檚 next possession, defensive back Kenley Williams stepped in front of a Kodiak pass taking it down to the 10-yard line. However, the Sun had to settle for a Liam Attwood 18-yard field goal making it 10-0 with just over five minutes gone in the first quarter.

Sun defensive backs took charge again a few plays later when Easton Fenske stripped a Kodiak receiver of the ball and ran into the end zone for a 17-0 lead. Kenley Williams picked off his second Kodiak pass and took the ball to the two-yard line. The Sun offence was unable to score though as Prince George stopped Noa on three straight attempts.

In the second quarter, Sun quarterback Marek Filipek found receiver Jordayne Falconer for two touchdowns of 40 and 61 yards. He then hit receiver Ben Chomolok for a seven-yard strike to make it 38-3 at the half.

The Kodiaks scored the only points in the second half on a 38-yard field goal. The Sun鈥檚 Kenley Williams collected his third interception at the end of the game.

Noa, BCFC and CJFL leader in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, had 10 carries for 104 yards and one touchdown. His rushing yards total for the season is 1,152. Filipek finished 11 of 19 for 175 yards, and three touchdowns. Liam Kroeger was 2-for-2 for 22 yards after replacing Filipek late in the game.

Sun linebacker Jacob Bond leads the BCFC in solo tackles with 51 after picking up five against the Kodiaks.

The Sun close out the 2024 regular season with two home games. On Saturday, Sept. 21 against the Westshore Rebels and Saturday, Sept. 28 against the Chilliwack Huskers.

Saturday's contest is the biggest game of the season so far as a win clinches first place in the regular season and home-field advantage throughout the BCFC playoffs. It'll be a hard task against Westshore, who is 5-2 on the season.

Throughout the game, 91大黄鸭 Minor Football (KMF) will be celebrated. Any KMF player wearing their jersey will get into the game for free. Also, former Sun player and gold medal-winning Olympian will be in attendance, at the main entrance plaza from 6 p.m. to throughout the first quarter.

Kick off is at 7 p.m. Tickets are available through the .
