Two goals a period was what the Vernon Vipers needed to earn their first win of the BCHL season, 6-3 over the West 91大黄鸭 Warriors.

Around the mid-way point of the first period, Shea Busch (shorthanded) and Keeghan Dunn scored within 64 seconds to make it 2-0 Vernon.

The Warriors cut the deficit in half before the end of the period as Callum Hughes scored his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Dylan Krayer.

In the second period, the Vipers were the better team, getting goals from Georgios Stavrianeas and Lukas McCloskey to make it 4-1 after two.

Just 1:19 in the third frame, Landon MacDonald scored on the power play, his first goal of the year, giving Vernon a four-goal lead. MacDonald also collected three assists in the game.

But the Warriors didn't let down, getting goals from Laz Giardina and Jack Farrell a minute and a half apart to make it 5-3.

The game would stay at that score unless Busch scored his second of the game into the empty net to give the Vipers a 6-3 win.

Dawson Labre made 26 saves in the loss for West 91大黄鸭 while Marko Bilic made 24 saves in the win.

With Vernon's win, the Blackfalds Bulldogs remain the only team in the BCHL without a win this season. Vernon is 1-5-1 while West 91大黄鸭 is 3-3-1.

On Saturday night, West 91大黄鸭 is back in action up in Salmon Arm to take on the Silverbacks at 6 p.m. The Vipers are back in action on Sunday as they welcome the Cowichan Valley Capitals to the Kal Tire Centre for a 1 p.m. puck drop.
