The West 91大黄鸭 Warriors beat the best team in the BCHL Coastal Division during a two-game weekend road trip to the Lower Mainland.

West 91大黄鸭 took on the Surrey Eagles on Feb. 23.

Aaron Schwartz started things off, scoring for the Eagles, at 13:12 of the first period and again just under 15 minutes later, making it 2-0 Surrey.

It was all Warriors in the second period.

Felix Caron (27) scored on the power play at 8:52 with assists to Michael Salandra and Isaiah Norlin. Callum Hughes (19) made it 2-2 at the 14:27 mark. Sean Keohane and Brennan Nelson added the assists.

With just 34 seconds left in the period, Jack Pridham (17) put the Warriors up 3-2, assisted by Nelson and Simon Houge.

Owen Dury put the Warriors up 4-2 with his second goal of the season, unassisted, at the 3:25 mark of the third period.

Surrey closed within one goal at 11:39 on a goal by Ryden Evers.

West 91大黄鸭鈥檚 Jackson Kyrkostas (19) scored into the empty net at 18:41 of the third giving the Warriors the 5-3 win.

The Warriors went 1/4 on the power play and goaltender Rorke Applebee turned away 20 of 23 shots.

West 91大黄鸭 did not fare as well on Saturday night in Coquitlam as they went up against the Express.

Coquitlam opened the scoring at 2:52 of the first period. Callum Hughes (20) responded for the Warriors four minutes later, with Brenna Nelson getting the assist.

The teams traded power-play goals in the second period. West 91大黄鸭鈥檚 Jackson Kyrkostas (20) scored at 3:33, assisted by Trent Wilson and Hughes. The Express scored just under eight minutes later to tie the game 2-2.

With no scoring in the third period, the teams headed to overtime where Coquitlam鈥檚 Jacob Bonkowski scored unassisted at 4:49 for the 3-2 win.

West 91大黄鸭 was 1/2 on the power play and Applebee turned aside 25 of 28 shots. The Warriors are currently 27-10-8-1 and are second in the Interior Division.

West 91大黄鸭 welcomes the Trail Smoke Eaters to Royal LePage Place on Mar. 1.
