The new store has been open since Jan. 30. 鈥淭he reception was phenomenal,鈥� says Toni Walton, interim manager of the new Vernon location. 鈥淲e鈥檝e had a lot of people come in excited to see what we offer. Vernon is definitely a growing community, and we鈥檙e thrilled to be part of it.鈥�
Buckerfields began in 1919 and carries animal feed, pet supplies, tools, plants, wild bird feed, bee supplies and even live baby chicks, with pre-orders already underway for honeybees.
More than 60 per cent of products sold in-store are made in Canada, something Toni says is a point of pride. 鈥淲hen you come into any of our stores, you鈥檒l see the Canadian maple leaf on Canadian products. Supporting Canadian producers and makers is really important for us as a company.鈥�
The Vernon store will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, April 5ht, with an all-day event running from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The festivities will include prizes, giveaways, suppliers on site, draws, Pure Country 105.7 on location and the Shabbang Food Truck
鈥淲e鈥檙e going to have our local radio station broadcasting live, our head office team on-site, and all of our staff ready to meet people and answer questions,鈥� says Walton. 鈥淲e really want the community to come together and see what we鈥檙e all about.鈥�
鈥淲e have amazing team members who are experts in their areas, whether it鈥檚 chicken care, pet food, or horses. It鈥檚 part of what makes the Buckerfields experience special. We keep it old-school, interactive and personal.鈥�
鈥淚 love my job, I鈥檝e been with Buckerfields for 11 years now. It鈥檚 everything I believe in, serving customers, offering advice, helping people grow and become a little more self-sufficient. I started with dogs, and now I鈥檓 a farmer myself. I鈥檝e learned so much and love to share the knowledge I have gained with others鈥�
