Crime and homelessness were a few issues on voters鈥 minds as they cast their ballots today in 91大黄鸭.
鈥淥ne issue I would say is property taxes and鈥 cleaning up the downtown, homelessness and crime,鈥 said 91大黄鸭 resident Nick Gunn, at the polling station at Parkinson Recreation Centre.
Another resident said she wants council to 鈥渉ome鈥 people and not 鈥渉ouse鈥 them. She said collaboration is needed from non-profits and 鈥渘ot always big business,鈥 but declined to give her name to the Capital News.
鈥淚 was not happy with our choices (for mayor),鈥 she said.
As his duty to vote, resident Don Abney said he studied each of the council candidate鈥檚 platforms.

鈥淚 wasn鈥檛 happy for with the past mayor so I didn鈥檛 vote for the mayor,鈥 he said. 鈥淭he thing that bothered me the most was the placement of the tourist bureau down by the lake.鈥
He also said event planners were ignored by council.
Two residents who said they lived downtown were concerned with the homelessness situation.
And two 18-year-olds cast their ballots for the first time Saturday morning.
鈥淚t felt good, it鈥檚 something that we take for granted so it鈥檚 something we should always do,鈥 said Ben Whittaker. Whittaker and Tommy DeWitt said there wasn鈥檛 an issue, in particular, they were focused on for this election; it was more about exercising their right to vote.
鈥淲e both really like history鈥 so we realize how fortunate we are to actually have this ability to vote,鈥 Whittaker said.
