The Alberta man who took a women he met online for a harrowing date last summer, pleaded guilty last Friday to two of four charges relating to the incident.
Jean-Francois Dufour, 36, pleaded guilty to forcible confinement without lawful authority and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. A kidnapping charge has been stayed. He will be back in court Dec. 13 in the lead up to sentencing.
Dufour was brought to the attention of West 91´ó»ÆѼ Mounties Aug. 13 at 8:39 a.m., when a woman called to say an online date that led to a meet-up in Peachland had gone terribly awry— she had been held against her will and injured.
"The suspect allegedly confined the woman to a vehicle and drove her around the area for several hours before eventually releasing her," said Const. Jesse O'Donaghey, at the time.
The victim, an adult woman, sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the incident.
Dufour was arrested with the assistance of Southeast District RCMP Air Services' fixed wing aircraft, in his vehicle in Peachland.
