The stolen truck had been used to commit multiple break and enters in 91大黄鸭.
On Jan. 5, at 9:56 a.m., the 91大黄鸭 RCMP received a report of a truck stolen from the 200 block of Froelich Road. Shortly after 10:30 p.m. an officer spotted the stolen silver Dodge Ram 2500 pickup parked on Bolotzky Court.
The 91大黄鸭 RCMP was called in to assist with covert surveillance on the truck which was then used by the two suspects to commit a break and enter to a business located in the 1900 block of Baron Road as well as an attempt to commit a break and enter to a business in the 3600 block of Highway 97 North.
Police attempted to stop the stolen truck upon its return to the area of Bolotzky Court. The vehicle failed to stop for police, avoided a spike belt which had been deployed and fled the area. Police continued to monitor the truck from a safe distance and observed as it was being driven in a dangerous manner westbound along Harvey Avenue in the eastbound lanes. An 91大黄鸭 traffic cop deployed a spike belt on Harvey Avenue near Spall Avenue which deflated three of the truck's tires.
The suspect vehicle continued to drive recklessly along the highway towards the bridge. It was eventually stopped by 91大黄鸭 Mounties on Cadder Avenue east of Pandosy Street, where three police cruisers were used to contain and prevent the suspect vehicle from fleeing again. The two suspects were taken into police custody without further incident.
鈥淚t was the joint effort of 91大黄鸭 RCMP general duty officers, police dog services, our municipal traffic section, and our street enforcement units who brought this dangerous situation to a safe conclusion,鈥 said Const. Jesse O鈥橠onaghey. 鈥淣o one was injured, and no vehicles belonging to the general public were damaged. However three police vehicles sustained minor damage as a result," O鈥橠onaghey said.
Police also recovered a stolen Yamaha dirt bike in the bed of the stolen truck, which investigators believe had been taken during a third break and enter to a storage facility on the 3500 block of Alcan Road.
