An elderly man who wandered nearly seven kilometres away from his 91大黄鸭 home Thursday night, and who prompted an all-night search by members of Central Okanagan Search and Rescue, has been found alive.
The man, who lives in an assisted-living residence near downtown, was the subject of a search that stretched from near Prospera Place in the north end of downtown to the end of Gordon Drive in the Mission at the south end of the city.
Central Okanagan Search and Rescue crews spent Thursday night combing the streets for him after being called in by the RCMP to assist around 11 p.m. Thursday night.
鈥淲ith temperatures dropping overnight, we had to cover a large area in a short amount of time,鈥 said search manager Ephraim Nowak.
He said additional SAR personnel were requested from Vernon and Penticton to assist in the search.
The man was found more than seven kilometres from his home in the early hours of Friday morning.
He was handed over to the B.C. Ambulance Service and taken to 91大黄鸭 General Hospital.
