A 91大黄鸭 woman remains in police custody facing potential charges after she allegedly stabbed and seriously injured her spouse inside their home early Monday morning.
The 91大黄鸭 RCMP responded to a report of a violent family disturbance April 18 at 12:02 a.m., inside a home in the 4600 block of Highway 33 East.
"Police learned that a woman had to be subdued by her family after she allegedly stabbed her spouse with an edged weapon inside their shared home. Investigators have been told that the victim may have been asleep when he was allegedly attacked by his spouse," said Const. Jesse O'Donaghey, in a press release.
The victim, a 70-year-old 91大黄鸭 man, was alert when emergency crews arrived on scene. His level of consciousness deteriorated and he was rushed to hospital with serious, however believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
鈥淔ive persons who were residing in the home at the time of the attack are being provided with RCMP Victim Services,鈥 said O鈥橠onaghey. 鈥淭hey have been vacated from the residence, for the time being, to allow police to continue their investigation."
The 91大黄鸭 RCMP General Investigations Section (GIS) has assumed conduct of this investigation which will include an examination of the scene with the assistance of the 91大黄鸭 RCMP Forensic Identification Section (FIS).
The suspect, a 58-year-old woman, who had been subdued by family members at the scene, was taken into police custody without further incident. The woman had been taken to hospital for a full medical assessment. She remains in police custody and faces potential charges of aggravated assault.
