Three people were taken to hospital after a nearly head-on collision Wednesday morning in Glenmore.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a crash Jan. 18  at 11:37 a.m., in the 100 block of Valley Road North, after receiving a report of the crash from a motorist who happened across the crash scene.

RCMP arrived on scene to find a grey Ford Escape with extensive damage to the front driver鈥檚 side and a black BMW X3, also with front end damage and air bags deployed.

The driver of the Ford Escape, an 18-year-old 91大黄鸭 woman, was extracted from her vehicle by crews with the 91大黄鸭 Fire Department. She was transported to hospital for treatment of what police believe to be non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the BMW X3, a 51-year-old West 91大黄鸭 woman, and her passenger, were also taken to hospital for assessment and treatment of what are believed to be relatively minor non-life threatening injuries.

An examination of the scene, coupled with both driver accounts, suggest that the grey Ford Escape began to slide and crossed the centre line, while travelling in a single curve eastbound along Valley Road North.

鈥淚nvestigators believe that a combination of oil, slush and fresh snow on the roadway contributed to a very slippery surface,鈥� said Cpl. Jesse O鈥橠onaghey, in a press release.

鈥淥fficers also noted that the tread of the tires on the Ford Escape were not sufficient for winter driving conditions. RCMP would like to remind motorists to regularly inspect the condition of their vehicles equipment to ensure it鈥檚 compliant with the Motor Vehicle Act and its Regulations."
