Fireworks may be a staple of Canada Day celebrations, but the City of 91大黄鸭 is reminding residents of the importance of fire safety.

Personal fireworks are still under a ban due to hot and dry conditions. However, 91大黄鸭 Fire Department has approved a permit for the annual celebration held by Festivals 91大黄鸭 in Waterfront Park, citing that the display will be launched from a barge and the dropping location will be over Okanagan Lake.

鈥淐anada Day is a time for joy and festivities, but it is crucial to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent fire-related incidents that can dampen the spirit of the occasion,鈥� said Paul Johnson, fire prevention officer with 91大黄鸭 Fire Department. 鈥淔ireworks, bonfires, and barbecues are common activities throughout Canada during this time, but they also pose potential risks if not handled responsibly.鈥�

Campfires are also currently under a ban within city limits.

鈥淔ire danger is very real for our community in such a dry season,鈥� added Johnson. 鈥淲e want to stress that fireworks are strictly prohibited without a permit from the 91大黄鸭 Fire Department. We ask the public to not shoot fireworks off in their neighbourhoods.

鈥淩emember, it is the collective responsibility of everyone to prioritize safety and protect our community.鈥�
