The deadline is fast approaching for to nominate someone for one of this year's 91´ó»ÆѼ Civic and Community awards
Nominations must be made by Friday, Feb. 12.
The awards, marking their 41st year in 2016, recognize outstanding individuals, businesses and organizations, whose contributions and achievements benefited the city last year.
According to city hall, nominations can be submitted online, by email or hard copy. Online nomination forms can be found on the city's civic and community awards webpage under "Residents" on the city’s website (kelowna.ca).
Hard copy forms are available at city hall, the Parkinson Recreation Centre and Okanagan Regional Library branch locations throughout the city.
Nomination categories include:
• Bob Giordano Memorial Award for the volunteer coach or sport administrator of the year
• Bryan Couling Memorial Award for the athletic team of the year
• Male and female Athlete of the Year Awards
• Champion for the Environment Award (individual and business)
• Corporate Community of the Year Award (small/medium and large)
• Central Okanagan Foundation Award for the volunteer organization of the year
• Honour in the Arts
• Teen Honour in the Arts
• Sarah Donalda Treadgold Memorial Award for the city's woman of the year
• Fred Macklin Memorial Award for the city's Man of the Year
• Young Male and Female Volunteer of the Year Awards
The Young Male and Female Volunteer of the Year Award finalists will receive funding toward their post-secondary education through the Dillon Thomas Budd Youth Scholarship, sponsored by the Thomas Alan Budd Foundation. Each award recipient will receive $1,000, while each of the four finalists will receive $500.
The awards gala will take place April 27 at the 91´ó»ÆѼ Community Theatre.
Tickets for the gala will go on sale March 14.
