On an officer on patrol with the 91大黄鸭 RCMP Downtown Enforcement Unit (DEU) spotted a suspect June 14, at 2:20 p.m., wanted on an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
The officer arrested the man and found he was in possession of various illegal drugs, as well as a concealed butterfly knife and can of bear spray.
In his possession were:
鈥 1.16 grams of suspected heroin
鈥 two grams of suspected methamphetamine
鈥 1.37 grams of crack cocaine.
鈥淭he DEU is dedicated to 91大黄鸭鈥檚 downtown core,鈥 said Const. Jesse O鈥橠onaghey. 鈥淒EU proactively works closely with various partner agencies to reduce street crime and make the downtown a safer place for everyone to enjoy. Officers of the DEU have a relationship with their clients and regularly breach those clients or arrest them on outstanding arrest warrants,鈥 O鈥橠onaghey said in a press release.
The 25-year-old 91大黄鸭 man, of no fixed address, was held in police custody to appear in court on today, June 15. He faces potential charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a prohibited weapon.
