With 91大黄鸭 once again becoming the summer playground that it is known for, the police presence in the city is being boosted.

City staff announced on May 18 that six new RCMP staff are being added to the force, along with four bylaw officers, two police services support staff and one community safety services employee.

鈥淪ummer brings a lot of excitement and visitors to 91大黄鸭. It represents the busiest time of year for our community safety responders, and we all have a role to play in making the summer season safe,鈥 said Community Safety Director Darren Caul.

The addition to the force is being aided by a one per cent Community Safety Levy, recently approved by city council.

RCMP will have boots on the ground specifically focusing on social disorder and public intoxication. Bait bikes will also be once again used to attempt to catch bike thieves.

Four bylaw officers will be on bike patrol all summer.

91大黄鸭 Superintendent Kara Triance said that officers are 鈥減repared and vigilant鈥 for the warm weather and the steady influx of visitors.
