91大黄鸭 RCMP say a man was held in police custody over the weekend and faces potential charges after allegedly assaulting a security guard and disturbing countless guests, staying in two 91大黄鸭 hotels early Saturday morning.
On Jan. 21 at 1:59 am, 91大黄鸭 RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious occurrence at the Sandman Hotel, located in the 2100-block of Harvey Avenue, where a man had been observed by staff acting in what they called an irrational manner.
It was also alleged that the man physically assaulted a hotel security guard, maliciously pulled the building鈥檚 fire alarm and stole a fire extinguisher.
While responding, police officers were told the man was reportedly smashing glass at the neighbouring Ramada Hotel, where he allegedly activated the Ramada鈥檚 fire alarm and set off the stolen fire extinguisher.
鈥91大黄鸭 RCMP safely took the suspect into police custody, with the assistance of police service dog Ice and an off-duty RCMP officer, from Northern BC, (who was) staying at the hotel,鈥 said Cpl. Jesse O鈥橠onaghey of the 91大黄鸭 detachment.
鈥淎 search of the suspect incidental to his arrest yielded suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia."
The suspect, a 33-year-old 91大黄鸭 man of no fixed address, was expected to appear in court Monday.
He faces several potential charges., said O'Donaghey.
