The Vancouver Police Department is in the midst of a province-wide recruiting campaign and representatives will be in the Okanagan this coming week looking for candidates.
鈥淲e are travelling to Penticton, Vernon and 91大黄鸭 to answer questions and provide potential applicants with more information about being a police officer in Vancouver,鈥 said Sgt. John Gibbons, with the VPD.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a career like no other and we are looking for people who want to make a difference.鈥
The department is looking to fill about 80 front line vacancies by the end of the year. This includes police officers, community safety personnel, jail guards and traffic authority members.
鈥淭here are many benefits to working with the VPD,鈥 said Gibbons.
鈥淔or example, after some time as a patrol officer, you have several options to move to other units and advance your career.鈥
